This is a quick post about the Really long App Reviews on  iOS Store. If you check the top ranked games like for example: IronPants , you will see that there are reviews which are like a few paragraphs long.

Really Long App Store Reviews- Somthing Wrong Fishy

I don’t know about anybody else, but I wouldn’t personally have the patience & time to write such long reviews. It would be normal if there was only one or two reviews like this, however it turns out that all the reviews which show up are this long. You have to click on the “more” tag to see the complete review.

The funny part is this is happening across all categories with most top ranked apps – Games, Education, Finance…

Here what I think: This is the iOS version of the Turkish one star review on Google Play i.e., people want their review to be at the top of the App page or they want their review to be no 1 (among the list of reviews). Proof of this is seen in below screenshot, you always by default see the “Most Helpful” reviews on the App Store :

App Store Most Helpful Category - Something Fishy

However, when you change this to “Most Recent”, “Most Critical” Or “Most Favourable”  voila – you get to see the same one line reviews which you are used to seeing on the App store:

App Store Review - Most Recent Normal

This is my take on it. I don’t know I am correct. I would love to hear comments from other people on what they think. Is somebody trying to game the App Review System? Are they using Bots to post these reviews?
